Tom was born into an Italian-American family at the end of WWII. He was the first of his extended family to graduate from college and the first to complete a post graduate program, earning a doctorate degree in his chosen field. He excelled in sports, including baseball, track, and hockey, playing the latter into college and continuing to do so to this day.
He has spent time as a factory worker; camp counselor; forester, manufacturing supervisor, and government operations specialist. He has been a practicing corporate and business attorney for over forty-five years, now semiretired, but continuing in his role as General Counsel to a restricted number of business clients.
Civic Service
Service to the communities in which he has lived and worked has been a hallmark of Mr. Grassia’s life. He has served these communities in many roles, including as a Board of Health member; a Selectmen; a member of his Fire and Rescue Department; as a hospital trustee and as an Emergency Medical Technician.
He has worked with the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, the Federal Government, and the City of Boston on aviation-related projects, including helicopter routing, safety protocols, and the siting of a public heliport.
He is a longtime member of the New England Council, America’s oldest business association, and was the first President of the Sherborn Massachusetts Business Association.
